In recent years, Europe has seen a concerning rise in nationalist fervor, particularly among young people. This trend reflects a broader backlash against globalization, as increasing numbers of young Europeans embrace ideas rooted in anti-globalist sentiments and far-right ideologies. Drawing on ethnographic research with European youth far-right activists, this talk contributes to the ongoing conversation on "reenchantment" with nationalism that we have been witnessing in Europe and beyond. In placing the discussion on the far-right nationalism within the context of debates on de-globalization and anti-globalism, Agnieszka Pasieka proposes to consider different ways in which far right movements understand both the "national" and the "global." In engaging with these different understandings, she asks why they are so appealing to young people and how they inform grassroots activism.
