Our motivation to establish the research platform

Multilateralism and international organisations are facing increasing pressure while the great challenges of our time require global solutions. With regard to current developments, we are motivated to provide new interdisciplinary perspectives to research on international negotiations and international cooperation. We thus also aim to strengthen Vienna’s position as a research hub in this field, for example through the exchange with organisations based in Vienna and beyond.

Goals and topics of research

From climate change to new technologies and access to resources – we investigate how global issues are negotiated in international settings and which challenges arise in that context. In this endeavour, we strive to combine analyses of current processes with historical perspectives on multilateralism.
